I believe in the philosophy of using search.twitter.com to search for the keywords that your potential customers would be tweeting about, and then follow them.  It used to be that 50% would follow you back, but for some keywords, the number is dropping to as low as 20-25%

There are paid tools that can facilitate this, but they all have different bugs.

Another option is “copy” the followers of someone who has similar interests to your own in the hope that a percentage of them will follow you back.

Once you’ve started with a “seed group” of 1000 or more, I would think that your techniques would be more effective.</description>
