How to Deal With Frequent Computer Errors

Is your system full of errors, and you just don’t know what to do about it? If your answer is yes, then you may want to go through this article to learn a few simple methods that will help you perform preventive maintenance of your PC and keep it free from troublesome errors.

Many computer errors occur due to incorrect settings of your computer. For example, Active X errors may occur if the security settings of your Internet Explorer prevent ActiveX controls from being downloaded to your computer. As the controls can be used for malicious purposes, your Web browser default settings may also prevent them from being downloaded automatically.

Most of the times, a message is displayed to ask the user’s approval to allow an ActiveX download. You may say yes only if you are working on a computer which it is safe to download these controls. If you are working on a server computer or a computer that stores confidential information, it is recommended that ActiveX controls are blocked from being downloaded.

You may encounter computer errors if a supporting software program or a driver to run a particular file is not available. For example, you may face Windows Media Player problems while trying to play certain media files if the codec required to play the particular file is not installed on your computer. To resolve the problem in this case, you need to obtain and install the required codec and then attempt to play your media file again.

If your computer is frequented with DLL errors, then it is quite possible that the DLL file being displayed in the error message is either overwritten with an older version, is missing, or is corrupt. Because DLL files are usually shared across multiple applications, an error message is displayed if an application is unable to find one or more DLL files in required versions. This problem usually occurs if these DLL files are either overwritten (or deleted) when you installed (or uninstalled) an application. If the error appears after you have installed an application, you may try to update this application to resolve the error. You may also attempt to obtain the DLL file(s) in the required versions from the Internet or another computer with similar configuration. If nothing works, try to use System Restore to revert your computer settings to the time when you had still not installed the new software. If the error appears after you have uninstalled the software, reinstall this software to replace all the missing files.

Many stop, fatal, and run time error messages occur if your computer is infected with a computer virus or the registry of your computer is damaged. To prevent errors due to computer viruses, you must regularly scan and clean your computer with the help of antivirus and antispyware tools. To ensure that your computer is safe from the latest security threats, you must keep these tools updated with the latest virus and spyware databases. To prevent computer errors, due to registry problems, you must maintain a clean and error-free registry. You can do this easily with the help of an efficient and user-friendly, third-party registry cleaner tool.
